International Museum Day

International Museum Day

Every year since 1977 International Museum Day is organised worldwide around May 18. To celebrate this day, Art Palace of Georgia opened a new exhibition revealing the uniqueness of princes Dadianis’ treasury.

Costumed carnival which was ended with the beautiful fireworks, was held in the garden of immortals.

The exposition is special as it represents extremely valuable items: the equipment of Ekaterine Chavchavadze-Dadiani’s working table; China cutlery of Niko Dadiani, Fraje candlesticks, prints, unique sabre collection of David Dadiani, photos etc.

The exceptional exhibit is the bronze death mask of Napoleon I (1769-1821), which was casted by the great leader’s private doctor Antommarchi in 1833 in Paris. It is considerable that the mask was brought in Zugdidi Georgia by the help of Salome Dadiani-Miurati.
