Exhibition of Feodor Chaliapin

On 26th of September, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Monument protection of Georgia, the exhibition of XXth c. profound opera singer Feodor Chalipin was opened in the Art Palace of Georgia.  Possessing a deep and expressive bass voice, he enjoyed an important international career at major opera houses and is often credited with establishing the tradition of naturalistic acting in his chosen art form.

During the first phase of his career, Chaliapin endured direct competition with two other great basses: the powerful Lev Sibiriakov (1869–1942), the more lyrical Vladimir Kastorsky (1871–1948). Lokking back to the history, it is apparent, he greatly managed to overcome all obstacles and remaind as the most powerfull and valuable figure in Opera history. The roots of Chaliapin’s career is connected with Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1915, he was aworded by the honourable citizen of Tbilisi, while saying his speech he admited: ’For the life I was born in Kazan and for the music I was born in Tbilisi’.
